BIOGRAPHY

Managing Director, Kevin Macaulay has worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years in South Africa, Tanzania, Botswana and Zambia. He is very knowledgeable about the sub-region and speaks a total of six local languages. Being passionate about the bush means that he will ensure that you get the shots you need, whilst keeping you safe so you can focus on the subject at hand. He is specialised in guiding and operations, being a Private Label guide for Abercrombie & Kent as well as Field Operations Manager for their 4 Zambian properties for a number of years, contributing to a total time of 10 years spent in operations management. Based in Lusaka, Zambia, Kevin is centrally located and this enables him to travel to most areas at a moment's notice.

With experience in all sorts of terrain, from the mountains of Tanzania to the untamed coastline of South Africa, Kevin is able to operate a wide variety of vehicles and boats to access the wildest corners of this great continent. While he was based in the Lower Zambezi National Park, Kevin was an examiner for the Lower Zambezi Guides Exams for the boating & fishing, driving, walking as well as canoeing examinations. Working in 5 of Zambia’s National Parks over the years, he has developed a strong relationship with the Department of National Parks & Wildlife, both at department headquarters in Lusaka and regionally. Having worked extensively with film crews throughout his career (see 'Experience' below for shoots he has been involved with), Kevin has a very clear understanding of crew requirements and this, combined with his knowledge of animal behaviour, will provide you with an opportunity to see and film many of the spectacular events that take place in the African wilderness.

REVIEWS

Will Benson

"It was an absolute pleasure to work with Kevin and the Wingman team for our 3 week shoot in Zambia in 2019. They effortlessly took care of all of the logistics surrounding our visas, customs clearances and filming permissions prior to the shoot, and on location they worked tirelessly to source additional equipment, modify our filming rigs, and help solve the myriad puzzles that tend to present themselves on a physically demanding natural history shoot in the bush. Kevin’s vast experience working across Africa, coupled with his positive attitude and hard work were huge factors in making our shoot a success, and I couldn’t recommend his skills enough. Needless to say we’re already planning our next shoot with Wingman"

"Kevin couldn’t have been more helpful on our National Geographic shoot in Zambia. We had a number of challenging conditions: short turnaround time, variety of location choices and very specific requirements. Kevin and his team excelled and were able to pull together a complicated shoot in a short space of time. We were grateful for their expertise and contacts not only on location in the Kafue National Park but also with navigating customs and legal requirements at the border. We wouldn’t hesitate to use him again."
